Hawkeye Athletics Giving – Legislation Update
Dear Hawkeye Friend,
Thank you for your loyal and generous support of the Hawkeyes.
We wanted to follow up on our previous communication, as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act bill was passed by U.S. Congress last week and includes a repeal of deduction for amounts paid in exchange for college athletic event seating rights. When enacted in 2018, qualifying seat gifts will no longer be deductible.
Please note our athletic per-seat program for football and men's basketball will continue for the 2018 athletic giving year, which runs through June 30, 2018. Beyond this timeframe, we are evaluating the impact of this legislation and will communicate with contributors and ticket holders when we have additional information to share.
You can make your current and future contributions by December 31, 2017, by clicking on the Herky to the right. If you are accelerating your payment(s), please note this in the comments section of the online form. If you have questions about your giving or priority seating for the current athletic giving year (7/1/17 to 6/30/18), please contact our athletics development staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 319-467-3410.
Our business hours over the holidays are:
Dec 27-28: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Dec. 29: 8 a.m. – Noon
Jan. 1: CLOSED
As with all charitable giving, we encourage you to consult your tax adviser about the deductibility of your gift.
Your continued support of our Hawkeye student-athletes is appreciated and provides the resources that support our mission to “Win. Graduate. Do it Right.”
